501 Story

Emma was inspired to set up 501 Reasons while her son was being treated for Osteosarcoma. A similar group, 500 Reasons, contacted her asked if she would like to receive a donation. She was so moved that she felt compelled to start a similar group, concentrating on, but not limited to, more local causes. She asked her friends, Jo and Antony, if they would like to be involved, and they immediately agreed to help.

As well as the main day to day tasks involved in running such a group, our main role is to discuss the nominations and select which good cause gets the money that particular week. Currently we have the equivalent of just over 300 regular £1 donations (Some people kindly donate more than £1 a week) meaning we can donate £501 every 2 weeks. In our first 2 years of operation we incredibly donated over £27,000. Absolutely amazing.

It is an honour to be involved in 501 Reasons, seeing the difference it can make in peoples lives, who may normally get overlooked.
